The story of wooden tools that follow the seasons
Our workshop sits in a small village in the mountains. Mornings begin with birdsong, and opening a window lets the scent of the forest drift in. In this place, we work with wood every day. The forest changes its expression with each season, and that quietly shapes the color and form of our tools.
Most of the wood comes from thinning the nearby mountains as part of their upkeep. After cutting, we let it dry thoroughly and read its warp and grain before any shaping begins. Not rushing, and keeping pace with the wood's own time, is the surest way we know to make tools that stay true.
For the finish, we apply thin layers of plant-based oil again and again. A new piece starts out pale, but as it is handled and touched by light, it slowly deepens into a warm amber. Enjoying that change is an important part of owning one of our tools.
A tree grown in the forest becomes a tool, then gathers time in someone's daily life. We are simply present for one part of that long story. Standing between the forest and the home, we will keep making tools that bring quiet moments to everyday life.
